Tourism in Florence has become so massive that even the price of ice
cream would change proportionally from month to month and sometimes
even from day to day depending from what country the current customer
is from. I actually witnessed a situation where a group of Japanese
tourist had to pay a higher price for a scoop of ice cream than the
local Italian further down the queue.

Bear in mind that when you book your hotel accommodation
with cheaper places and you will be arriving late in the
afternoon or in the evening, that it might be a good idea
to call the hotel and let them know when about you will
be arriving, if the hotel reservation manager of a budget
hotel thinks you won’t show up he will be very tempted
to book your room for someone else just in case you do
not show up anymore. But this happens only with really
cheap
hotels in Florence and other very cheap places and
only when you do not let them know that you might be arriving
very late on your first day of stay.
